NO ON AB350! It’s Bad For Property Owners!

Some of you may have heard of AB 350, which is a California Assembly bill put forth by Assemblyman Jose Solorio (D-Santa Ana) of Orange County.  In short, it’s a bill that would force contractors and sub-contractors for property services (like us) to hire a predecessor’s employees.

I just wanted to give you some info today about an organization we became members of in May.  As you know, we currently belong to professional organizations like IREM, CCIM, ACRE and so on, but last month we joined BOMA.  BOMA is another acronym, which in this case stands for Building Owners and Managers Association and because of our ongoing effort to expand our current business in the bay area, we joined the Silicon Valley Chapter of BOMA. [Read More...]

Unit Appeal and the “Make Ready List”

For the last few years, there has been a lot of conversation about how to lease the vacant space on the market.  Much of the conversation has centered on the economy and on topics such as unemployment, consumer confidence, lease rates and the like.  Much of the conversation has been about the marketing side as well.  Things like advertising, web listings, email blasts, mailers and even craigslist are an everyday topic.  However, a commonly overlooked or in some cases even ignored topic in a down economy like this, is curb appeal.  The first is out of our control, the latter is within our control.  So today, I’m making it the topic of my email letter. [Read More...]
